How to Give to Those Affected by Hurricane Harvey

Downtown Houston flooded after rain from Hurricane Harvey

Downtown Houston flooded after rain from Hurricane Harvey

This weekend, the worst hurricane Texas has seen in over 12 years slammed into the Texas coast.  As a Category 4, Hurricane Harvey brought over 135 mph winds to Corpus Christi and small beach towns like Rockport Fulton and Port Aransas.  Along with high winds, Harvey dumped massive amounts of rain on many Texas cities including Houston, Victoria, and many more.

It’s projected that this storm will have done millions of dollars in damage across the Texas coast and cities in-land. Rebuilding and picking up the pieces will likely takes years, given the need for funding of resources, materials, and man-power to do so.

In the meantime, there is action to take now. Many residents of the cities and towns hit hardest by Harvey are displaced, without power, have home damage, and are in need of immediate assistance for things like food, water, and shelter.

In any tragedy the light we find, is that of the power of people, neighbors, communities, and a nation banding together to lend a hand and help those in need. Nothing is more powerful than that. Not even a Category 4 storm.

As a gift curator, it’s only right for us to be source of information for our readers looking for ways to give and help those that were affected by the storm, flooding, displacement, and aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.
